Buddha's Golden Chain Prayer
Today’s prayer is the Buddha’s Golden Chain Prayer. First, a little background: In Buddhism, Amida is Reality, the buddha-nature in everything. It is written in Shin Dharma, “Amida is our within and without, the truth within all truth, the ideal in all ideals, the relationship in all relations, the meaning within meaning.” That is what Amida means to Buddhists.
Here is Buddha’s Golden Chain Prayer:
We are a link in Amida’s golden chain of love that stretches around the world, we will keep our link bright and strong.
We will be kind and gentle to every living thing and protect all who are weaker than ourselves.
We will think pure and beautiful thoughts, say pure and beautiful words, and do pure and beautiful deeds.
May every link in Amida’s chain of love be bright and strong, and may we all attain perfect peace.
Svaha, so be it.
Whether you follow Buddha’s faith, or another, or you are not religious at all, you are welcome here. My prayer for you is that you may know, within and without, that you are a vital link in a Golden Chain connecting us all. You are worthy and loved, exactly as you are, no mask required.
